Nighttime Skincare: Less is More

I wanted to share my “less is more” approach with a nighttime skin routine that works! I’ve had so many people asking me… What do I do?! What products I use? I decided to create an official blog. Especially for you ladies that tell me you’re using dial soap and/or St Ives Scrub on your face 🫣🫢 🛑 Immediately NO. Please stop the madness!

Now-now before we move forward with today’s lesson please note, I am a licensed esthetician, but I do not do facials. I’m passionate about skin, but I am not a skin “guru” with all the fancy terminology. I’m gonna shoot straight! 😉

Pre Cleanse with an Oil

I personally use Purador’s Vitamin E Oil. This is not marketed as a precleanse, however it works for me. You can also use an organic castor oil. There’s loads of precleanser oils on the market so choose one that feels right to you. Rub the oil over your face, neck, and if you’re feeling frisky your chest. Let that sit for a few minutes to break up the dirt, oil, and makeup.

Cleanse the Skin - Every Day

Truth time, I only actually use a foaming cleanser every other day then a microfiber towel the other days. Overwashing our faces strips them of the good oils and messes up the skin barrier. The cleanser I love is La Roche-Posay Gentle Foaming Wash . Soak the microfiber towel in warm water before you wipe off everything.

Exfoliate - 2-3 Times per Week

This is so important in ridding our skin of the dead skin and other debris that’s just chilling on top causing texture and trapping in bad bacteria. Fun fact your skin cannot absorb your products if you’re not exfoliating. I love-love a good rice powder mechanical exfoliant, like SRB Rice Enzyme Exfoliant. Not all mechanical (tiny scrubbers in the mixture) are created equally. Using St Ives scrub, salt, or sugar scrubs are likely to cause micro tears in the skin since they are actually jagged and not smooth like a urice powde.

Moisturize - Everyday

Your face needs moisture after each wash. I am using La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer. This isn’t super thick, so when I am needing some extra moisture I’ll just add a little drop of my Purador Oil to it and it works like a charm.

Eyes

One of my clients, who is the cutest and sweetest ever, told me about this product and I am in love. It’s the innisfree Green Tea Caffeine Bright Eye Serum. It has this roller ball that really helps to massage and depuff the eyes so well. Since I have struggled with dark and puffy under eyes my whole life, trust me, I’ve tried them all. It truly works!

Lips

Don’t skip the lip! Our lips need love too. Moisturize those babies right before bed. You will wake up with soft lips. You can never go wrong with Aquaphor. Plus it’s super duper affordable and every store sells them.🙌

Final thoughts....

Keep it simple and know that you can have good skin with consistent effort! That’s why simple will work - the more rigorous the routine the less likely any of us will stick to it.
